The girl child labour in Nigeria refers to the high incident of girls from age 5-15 who are involved in economic activities outside of education and leisure.
The living conditions and survival of girl child in Nigeria is discriminated against in access of educational opportunity , food and nutrition.girls carry a heavy burden of farm work and house work…. Girl are married off at early age , which interferes with their education or acquisition of skills needed for survival.beliefs must be changed about the value of girls child.
Many girls below the age of 15 engage in the vending of goods on road, carriage of goods to customers and begging of alms.on average,more primary and secondary school age girls engage streets trading than boys.the young girls choose specific routes and road junction to vend goods before returning home in the evening.apart from Hawking ,some girls also engage in streets begging.
Many girls works as maids ,shop helper and street hawkers.the use of Young girls in economic activities exposes them to dangers such as sexual assault,lack of good food,good clothes, exploitation and lack of parental care .in addition ,the work of girls is not recognize by the law .
